Collaborative Research Center 1054 “Control and Plasticity of Cell-Fate Decisions in the Immune System”

PhD student in Immunology

The Munich-based Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1054 (www.sfb1054.med.lmu.de) explores the control of cell-fate decisions in the immune system. Its Integrated Research Training Group (IRTG) provides a structured framework for training and supervision of doctoral candidates.

Research in the Klein lab aims at elucidating the cellular interactions and molecular pathways that orchestrate the generation of a functional and self-tolerant T cell repertoire (www.immunologie.med.lmu.de). We are combining genetically manipulated mouse models, single-cell or whole-repertoire TCR sequencing and TCR re-expression in retro-or transgenic mice to dissect T-cell-intrinsic and -extrinsic determinants shaping the T cell pool during repertoire selection in the thymus and in autoimmune settings.

Your profile:

  • Master’s degree in life sciences, ideally with knowledge of cellular and molecular immunology.
  • Experience in flow cytometry, animal experimentation and/or bioinformatics is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Curiosity, team spirit and enthusiasm for science.

We offer:

  • Modern workplace with cutting-edge technology embedded in a stimulating scientific community at the Biomedical Center of the LMU.
  • A dynamic international team.
  • Participation in structured programs (IRTG, MMRS) that offer scientific and soft-skills training.
  • Employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L (65%)
  • Start date is ASAP.

Submit your application (merged PDF including letter of motivation, curriculum vitae, degree certificates, two references) to Ludger Klein at Ludger.klein@med.lmu.de. Informal inquiries prior to or in parallel to submission of a full application are encouraged.

The LMU is committed to a family-oriented policy and is an equal opportunity employer, specifically welcoming female scientists' applications. Severely disabled persons with similar qualifications will be given priority.
