PhD studentship at ITM labs in Garching b. München
A PhD fellowship/studentship is available to study the biochemistry and molecular biology at the Medical Faculty
We seek enthusiastic and motivated candidates to join our team at the newly founded Institute for Theoretical Medicine in Garching, belonging to the University of Augsburg.
Our Research at the chair of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology focuses mainly on proteases. They are of crucial importance for the development and diagnosis of numerous diseases, for example diseases of the digestive system. A special group of proteases is active in the membrane of body cells and is involved, for example, in the development of Alzheimer's disease, infection with hepatitis viruses or malaria. The investigation of possible influences of these proteases on tumor development and metastasis as well as on sugar metabolism and thus on possible effects linked to diabetes is a great challenge.
The institute: The Institute for Theoretical Medicine (https://www.uni augsburg.de/de/fakultaet/med/forschung/itm/) is a focal point for systematic basic biomedical research at the University of Augsburg. Research facilities are also located in Garching b. München.
If you are a recent MSc graduate in biology, biochemistry chemistry or related field andhave enthusiasm for using and developing new techniques. Please contact Sabine Höppner, firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on work within our diverse team of scientists.
