New roles for modern zoos: research, conservation, and more
Abstract: Over the last 150 years, zoos have changed from places where exotic animals were merely displayed to the public into modern conservation and research centres. Their diverse living collections kept under controlled conditions, together with international networks, offer unique opportunities for collaboration that benefit not only zoo animals but also wildlife. This will be illustrated with examples from Nuremberg Zoo.
Host: Ines Hellmann & Wolfgang Enard
