Evolution of plant root endosymbioses suppoted and maintained life on land
About Martin Parniske´s research:
The section Genetics at the Faculty of Biology at the LMU Munich focuses on the molecular mechanisms shaping the interactions between plants and their microbial symbionts, parasites, and pathogens. We investigate interactions between plants and symbiotic or pathogenic microorganisms and elucidate the molecular processes that lead to the cellular reprogramming and redifferentiation associated with mutual compatibility or defence. Likewise, we explore natural diversity and ecological approaches to identify allelic variation governing agriculturally important traits, like efficiency of nitrogen fixation, nutrient uptake, or disease resistance.

The LSM Lecture Series is a recurring academic event where LSM faculty members and occasional external speakers share their latest research with LSM students to explore diverse ideas, spark curiosity, and foster dialogue across the LSM community.
The event is open to all members of the university community!
