About Simon Heilbronner´s research:
Simon Heilbronner and his lab study Staphylococcus aureus, a bacterium carried in the nose by one in three people worldwide and a leading cause of serious infections. With antibiotic-resistant strains like MRSA on the rise, his work aims to develop new prevention and treatment strategies across three areas: understanding how the pathogen acquires nutrients to cause disease, exploring how the nasal microbiome can naturally protect against colonization, and developing predictive diagnostic tools using metagenomic sequencing to identify patients at risk before infection occurs.
