Electron microscopy

The central electron microscopy department conducts broad-based ultrastructural research. Transmission electron microscopy and high-resolution scanning electron microscopy, combined with analytical methods and cryogenic techniques, have been established in the laboratory for several years.
Many research groups within the Biocenter, but also beyond the faculty, are addressing a wide range of research questions. These range from the compartmentalization of plant secondary metabolites and heavy metal accumulation in bacteria and cell cultures to the localization of protein molecules in or on cells or cell structures.
