Aquatic Ecology, Prof. Stibor
The Seeon Limnological Station (SLS) is a renowned center for freshwater research in Bavaria and is affiliated with Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich. It provides excellent laboratory and mesocosm infrastructure, as well as direct access to a diverse array of lakes and wetlands. Researchers can conduct experimental, long-term, and large-scale ecological studies, particularly focusing on aquatic biodiversity, food web interactions, and environmental change. The station is involved in interdisciplinary projects and serves as a platform for national and international collaborations. Additionally, it is an important site for teaching, practical courses, and field excursions, enabling students to gain hands-on experience in limnology.

Have you seen jellyfish in a lake?
We are looking for lakes where freshwater jellyfish occur and would be happy to receive any reports of sightings.
We are part of a pan-European network of leading mesocosm research sites, linking limnic and marine ecosystems across gradients from mountains to oceans, and from the Arctic to the Mediterranean.
