Teacher orientation phase 2024

Registration for the teacher orientation phase has been possible since (date to follow) at www.mzl.lmu.de/ophase for first-year students. We would be pleased if you could draw attention to this. For this purpose, you will also find a digital postcard for the O-Phase attached.

Furthermore, we would like to inform you that the MZL no longer has subject information sheets printed, as these are available online and can also be printed out as PDFs by students. Due to frequent changes, we were forced to dispose of larger quantities again and again.

Student coaching

At the Faculty of Biology, the coordinators will coach you in confidential one-to-one meetings whenever necessary. Experience has shown that the desire for such discussions arises in study situations that are perceived as crisis situations, for example in transitional phases such as the choice of subject, potential changes between courses, study/motivation crises or exam anxiety, the transitions from Bachelor to Master, Master to doctorate or (career) planning after graduation.

Coaching approach: We follow a solution-oriented counseling and systemic coaching approach. In coaching, we clarify your concerns with you, take your respective contexts into account, reflect on your personal motives, clarify your individual goals, support you in difficult decision-making processes, develop goal-oriented strategies and accompany you in their implementation. We focus primarily on your strengths and potential, develop decision-making aids and work with you to tap into resources and new perspectives, with the aim of ensuring that your time at university is both professionally successful and personally satisfying. We work in a process-oriented and solution-oriented manner and also support you if you need further advice.

The coaching is for the LMU students free of charge. You are welcome to contact us by e-mail: biokoord@bio.lmu.de.

As a rule, we clarify the exact reasons and objectives of the coaching in a non-binding initial meeting. We look forward to hearing from you.
