LSM Doctoral Applications 2026/27 — Now Open!

The Graduate School Life Science Munich (LSM) is pleased to announce that the online application portal for the 2026/27 doctoral application round is now open.

This year, two pathways are available for prospective doctoral candidates:

Doctoral Positions
Apply for a pre-defined doctoral project.
Positions are available where the supervisor is in the process of securing funding and is committed to supporting promising candidates in identifying and applying for appropriate funding — such as a fellowship, scholarship, or third-party funding.

Independent Research Proposals (new this year)
Highly motivated candidates with an original research idea are invited to apply to a participating LSM lab. Faculty members have provided short research abstracts to guide candidates in formulating a targeted proposal. Should a proposal be of interest to the potential supervisor, they would support the candidate in identifying appropriate funding — such as a fellowship, scholarship, or third-party funding.

Internal Candidates:
Doctoral candidates up to one year into their project within an LSM group can apply as internal candidates to join the LSM graduate school.

Key Deadlines:

• Application submission: 19 October 2026, 12:00 noon CET
• Letters of reference: 26 October 2026, 12:00 noon CET
• Interview invitations: Early December 2026
• Online interview days: Early January 2027
